|
The 2nd Regional Science and Technology Camp for Children in Southeast Asia will be hosted by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Cambodia and organized by the Royal University of Phnom Penh at the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center from 24 February to 4 March 2009. The camp will be attended by children aged 12-15 years from Cambodia, other countries in the Mekong Region (Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam) and possibly other Asian countries, who together will strategize, design, build, program, test and refine their Scavenger Robots and also work on Science lab activities. This camp programme contains various aspects of engineering education, including hands-on learning experience in robotics and practical applications of science, technology, and engineering, as well as lots of focused brainstorming with peers from different cultural backgrounds, real-world teamwork, dedicated mentoring, project timelines, etc.The common language at the camp is English, but the camp programme is designed to require only minimal English ability from the children. In addition, volunteers (college students) act as interpreters for those who do not have English capability to take lectures and instructions in English.
